[방콕(타일랜드)=AP/KNS뉴스통신] 지난 화요일 급락했던 아시아 주요증시가 유럽과 미국 중앙은행이 경기 부양책을 제시할 것이라는 기대감에 일제히 상승세를 이어가는 모습이다.
아시아 주요증시가 상승세를 이어가는 가운데 일본 니케이225지수는 1.3% 상승한 8,641.31에 거래중이다. 홍콩 항셍지수도 1.6% 상승한 18,819.39에 거래를 동반 상승했다.
하락세를 면치 못했던 아시아 주요증시의 상승반전은 지난 수요일 미국 연방준비제도이사회(FRB) 데니스 록 하트 의장이 미국 경제의 완만한 회복세를 유지하고 있다고 분석한 데 기인한다.
여기에 유럽중앙은행(ECB) 마리오 드라기 총재가 6일 통화정책회의 직후 유럽의 경기 둔화세에 대응할 수 있는 조치를 내놓을 것이라며 경기 호전에대한 기대감을 높인 것이다.
미국과 유럽 중앙은행의 경기 부양책 제시가 증시에 긍정적인 영향을 미친가운데 한국의 코스피지수도 2.8% 상승한 1,851.36에 거래를 이어갔다. 호주의 Australia's S&P/ASX 200지수도 1.5% 오른 4,116.60으로 동반 상승세를 이어가는 모습이다. 싱가포르를 비롯해 대만과 중국, 뉴질랜드 등도 상승해 지난장 하락세를 모두 상쇄했다.
BANGKOK (AP) — Asian stock markets rose Thursday, boosted by hopes that Europe is preparing to take action to tackle the region's financial crisis and comments from a Fed policymaker about possible support for the U.S. economy.
Benchmarks across Asia rose, including Japan's Nikkei 225 index, up 1.3 percent to 8,641.31 and Hong Kong's Hang Seng, which added 1.6 percent to 18,819.39.
Hopes for strong action by the U.S. central bank were lifted by comments from Atlanta Federal Reserve President Dennis Lockhart, who said Wednesday that sustained weakness in job creation could justify more action to support the economic recovery.
That helped traders overlook the disappointment that the ECB offered no new monetary stimulus on Wednesday, with its chief Mario Draghi saying it was the time for governments to act to restore confidence in the 17 nations that use the euro common currency.
Draghi, however, has left himself some room to maneuver, saying that "we'll monitor closely all the developments and we'll stand ready to act" if necessary. He also said some members of the 23-member council advocated a rate cut.
South Korea's Kospi index jumped 2.8 percent to 1,851.36 and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 added 1.5 percent to 4,116.60. Benchmarks in Singapore, Taiwan, mainland China, New Zealand and Indonesia also rose.
