[베이징=AP/KNS뉴스통신] 중국은 중국 및 국가가 경제를 관리하는 나라에서 보조금을 주어 미국에 수출하는 상품에 대해 고율의 관세를 부과하는 권한에 대해 미 의회가 재확인한데 대해 비난하고 나섰다.
중국 천더밍 상무부 부장은 7일 중국은 세계무역기구 (WTO)의 규정을 지키고 있으며 다른 다라의 법을 따라야 할 필요는 없다고 주장했다.
이번 미 의회는 지난 해 12월 연방항소심에서 의회가 상무부에 대해 명확한 권한을 부여하지 않았기 때문에 상무부가 징벌적 고율의 관세를 부과할 수 없다는 취지의 판결을 뒤집은 것이다.
미 하원은 6일 이 법안을 표결에 부쳐 370-39로 통과시켰다. 상원도 이 법안을 12일 승인할 것으로 관측된다.

China criticizes US support of punitive tariffs
BEIJING (AP) — China is criticizing a U.S. Congress decision reaffirming that the U.S. government has the right to impose higher tariffs on goods from China and other state-run economies that subsidize their exports to the United States.
Commerce Minister Chen Deming said Wednesday that China follows rules laid down by the World Trade Organization, but does not have to abide by the laws of other countries.
The congressional action overturned a December federal appellate court ruling that the Commerce Department did not have the authority to levy the punitive tariffs because Congress never explicitly gave the agency that right.
The House voted 370-39 to pass the measure Tuesday. The Senate approved it Monday.
