[토런스, 캘리포니아=AP/KNS뉴스통신] 혼다자동차는 미국 R&D 사장을 새로 임명했다고 발표했다.
회사는 4월 1일 자로 에릭 버크만이 혼다 미국 R&D사의 사장에 취임한다고 밝히고 1991년 이래 미국에서 20여개의 새 모델을 개발한 이 회사의 모든 디자인과 제품개발 책임을 맡는다고 발표했다.
버크만 사장 취임에 앞서 전 히로시 다케무라 사장은 일본으로 복귀하여 자동차 운영부 부이사직을 맡을 예정이다.
1982년부터 혼다에서 일해 온 버크만 사장은 혼다 미국사에서 기업계획 물류부문 부사장을 역임했다.

Honda names new research chief for Americas
TORRANCE, California (AP) — Honda Motor Co. says it has named a new head of research and development for the Americas.
The company says Erik Berkman will become the new president of Honda R&D Americas on April 1. He will be responsible for all design and product development. The Japanese automaker says it has developed more than 20 models in the U.S. since 1991.
Berkman will replace Hiroshi Takemura, who will return to Japan as deputy director of automobile operations.
Berkman has worked at Honda since 1982. He is now vice president of corporate planning and logistics in the Americas.
