[방콕=AP/KNS뉴스통신] 방콕에서 이스라엘 외교관에 대한 폭탄테러를 음모한 혐의로 구속된 3명의 이란인은 태국에서 테러이외에도 다른 일을 하기를 원했던 것처럼 보인다.
경찰은 17일 이들이 한 해변 리소트에서 매춘부들과 어울린 것으로 발표했다. 태국 당국이 이들을 훈련시킨 것으로 보이는 폭탄 전문가와 실패한 두명의 폭탄테러 용의자를 수색하는 과정에서 흘러나온 뉴스이다.
이번 실패한 계획은 15일 이들이 머무는 임대 주택에서 실수로 폭탄이 터지자 도피하면서 발각됐다.
두명은 방콕에서 체포되고 다른 한명은 이란으로 돌아가려하다가 인근의 말레이시아에서 16일 체포됐다.
2월 8일 푸켓에 도착한 이들은 파타야로 이동하여 방콕으로 출발하기 전 적어도 이틀 밤을 이곳에서 지냈다. 방콕에서 남쪽으로 70km 떨어진 파타야는 특히 지저분한 성관계 산업과 대규모 매춘부 집단으로 악명이 높은 곳이다.
이들 이란인들은 그곳에 머무는 동안 몇명의 성관계 일에 종사하는 여성들과 어울렸는데 그 여인들 가운데 한명이 16일 이란인들을 확인하기 위해 방콕으로 불려왔다고 태국 남부 고위 이민경찰 수사관이 말했다.
이번 방콕의 테러 실패로 이란과 이스라엘 사이에 긴장감이 높아지고 있는데 이스라엘은 13일 뉴델리에서 이스라엘 외교관의 부인과 운전수에게 부상을 입힌 폭탄테러와 같은 날 구소련의 그루지아 공화국에서 실패한 폭탄테러에서 처럼 이란이 국가 비밀 테러전을 벌리고 있다고 비난하고 있다.
이란은 3차례의 폭탄테러에 대한 책임을 부인하고 최근 일어난 이란 핵과학자의 살해를 이스라엘 소행이라고 비난하고 있다.
16일 태국 경찰총장은 구속된 이란인들이 이스라엘 외교관을 목표로 하고 있었다고 발표하고 뉴델리와 트빌리시에서 사용된 자석으로 부착하는 소위 끈끈한 폭탄과 유사점에 대해 언급했다.
실수로 폭탄이 터져 임대주택의 지붕이 날라가자 급하게 집을 떠나는 3명의 이란인의 모습이 사진에 찍혀있다.
그는 또 경찰이 집을 입대한 또 한명의 용의자인 레릴라 로하니라는 이란 여인을 추적하고 있는데 현재 그녀는 테헤란으로 돌아간 것으로 믿어진다.

Thai cops: Iranian suspects dined with prostitutes
BANGKOK (AP) — The three Iranian men detained for allegedly plotting bomb attacks in Bangkok on Israeli diplomats had more than terror on their minds. in Thailand. Police said Friday they had also cavorted with prostitutes at a beach resort.
The news comes as Thai authorities announced they were searching for two more suspects in the botched bomb plot, including a possible explosives specialist who may have been training the Iranians.
The foiled plan was discovered Tuesday when explosives in the men's rented house blew up by mistake, forcing them to flee.
Two were detained in the Thai capital, and a third was captured Wednesday in neighboring Malaysia as he reportedly tried to return to Iran.
After flying into the southern city of Phuket on Feb. 8, the men moved to Pattaya and stayed there for at least two nights before heading to Bangkok.located 45 miles (70 kilometers) southeast of the Thai capital, Pattaya is particularly notorious for its sleazy sex industry and large contingent of prostitutes.
The Iranians hung out with several female sex workers during their stay there, and one of the women was brought to Bangkok to identify the suspects on Thursday, said Lt. Col. Noppon Kuldiloke, a senior immigration police investigator in southern Thailand.
The botched plot has ratcheted up tensions between Iran and Israel, which is accusing Iran of waging a covert campaign of state terror that lncluded a bombing Monday in New Delhi that tore through an Israeli diplomatic vehicle, wounding an Israeli diplomat's wife and driver, and a failed bomb attempt the same day in the former Soviet republic of Georgia.
Iran has denied responsibility for all three bomb plots, and blames the Jewish state for the recent killings of Iranian atomic scientists.
Thailand's national police chief said Thursday that the detained Iranians were plotting to attack Israeli diplomats, citing the similarity of so-called "sticky" bombs that can be attached magnetically that were used in New Delhi and Tbilisi.
The cameras captured each of the three Iranian men leaving the residence shortly after an explosion ripped the roof of the house that afternoon.
He said police also are looking for an additional suspect who had rented the destroyed home with an Iranian woman named Leila Rohani who is now believed to be back in Tehran.
