[로잔, 스위스=AP/KNS뉴스통신] 국제 올림픽 위원회 (IOC)는 2020년 올림픽 개최 도시 신청 시한 내에 5개 도시가 신청 했다고 발표했다.

도쿄, 마드리드, 이스탄불, 도하, 아제르바이잔의 바쿠가 올림픽 개최도시 선정에 신청했다.  2013년 9월에 IOC는 개최도시 선정에 앞서 신청서를 검토한 후 도시수를 축소할 수 있다.

로마도 개최에 관심이 있었으나 마리오 몬티 이탈리아 수상이 재정지원을 할 수 없다고 하자 13일 신청을 포기했다.

IOC receives bids 　from 5 prospective host cities

LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — The IOC says the five cities in the running to host the 2020 Olympics have submitted their bids files on time.

Tokyo, Madrid, Istanbul, Doha and Baku, Azerbaijan, are competing to host the games.

The IOC, which will vote for the host in September 2013, can still pare the list to a smaller 　group of candidates in May after reviewing each of the candidate files.

Rome had also been interested, but the bid was 　dropped Tuesday after Italian Premier Mario Monti refused to provide financial guarantees.
