[모스크바=AP/KNS뉴스통신] 18일 러시아 동부해안 영하의 바다에서 강한 폭풍이 부는 가운데 석유굴착선이 전복되면서 침몰한 사건이 발생하자 구조대원들이 49명의 실종자를 수색하고 있다.
밤이 되면서 4명의 사망이 확인되고 14명은 이 콜스카야 굴착선을 견인하던 선박이 폭풍이 휘몰아치는 영하의 바다에서 구조해 냈으나 폭풍과 영하로 떨어진 기후조건으로 나머지 실종 선원들의 구조는 방해받았다.
33명이 러시아 북서부 지역인 무르만스크주 출신인 이 주 지사는 18일 가족과 친지들에게 희망을 잃지 말도록 당부했으나 섭씨 1도의 영하의 바다에서 실종 선원들이 생존할 가능성이 없는 것으로 인정했다.
러시아 비상 당국은 67명의 선원이 탄 이 시추선은 사하린섬에서 200킬로미터 떨어진 바다로 견인되고 있었다고 발표했다.

Russian oil platform capsizes; 4 dead, 49 missing
MOSCOW (AP) — Rescue workers are searching for 49 men in freezing, remote waters off Russia's east coast after their oil rig capsized and sank amid fierce storms on Sunday.
By nightfall, four men had been confirmed dead, 14 others had been plucked alive from the churning, icy waters by the ship that had been towing the Kolskaya drilling platform. But the search for the remaining men was hampered by freezing temperatures, a driving blizzard and strong winds.
Dmitry Dmitriyenko, governor of the Murmansk region in Russia's north-west where 33 of the men come from, urged friends and families not to lose hope late Sunday, but admitted the chance of the men surviving in the one degree Celsius (33.8 Fahrenheit) water is approaching zero.
The Emergencies Ministry said that 67 people had been aboard the platform as it was being towed about 200 kilometers (120 miles) off the coast of Sakhalin,.
