[샌프란시스코=신화통신/KNS뉴스통신] 샌프란시스코 경찰은 7일(수) 시내의 반월가 시위 캠프를 철거하면서 시위대와 야영인 등 70명을 체포하고 두 달동안 설치되었던 야영지를 모두 정돈하였다.
샌프란시스코 경찰 대변인에 의하면 반 월가 야영인 30명은 야영 캠프에서 철수하기를 거부한 까닭에 경찰이 현지 시간 새벽 1시 30분경 양자택일을 할 수 있는 5분의 여유를 허용한 후에 체포되었으며, 나머지 40명은 그들이 샌프란시스코의 중요 통행로인 마켓 스트리트를 봉쇄한 바로 그때 체포되었다.
이 중 한 사람이 샌프란시스코 크로니클 지에 야영자들의 대부분은 소지품을 챙길 시간이 거의 없었다고 제보했는데, 경찰과 시위대들이 한 번 잠깐 충돌하면서 상황이 종료되었다.
성명서에서 에드 리 샌프란시스코 시장은 ‘샌프란시스코를 점령하라’ 시위대 지도자들이 사태를 그르치고 막무가내 상태까지 이르게 해, 시청 담당부서들은 공중건강, 안정을 유지하고 야영지를 모든 시민의 공평한 사용을 위해 되돌려주기 위한 목적으로 평화적이고 질서정연하게 캠프를 종식시켰다고 말했다.
시청에서는 시위대들에게 이전에 고등학교 교사 건물이었던 곳을 시위대들의 신규 장소로 제안했다. 샌프란시스코 크로니클 지에 의하면, 다수의 야영자들이 흥미를 표하고 있지만 반월가 시위대들이 요구하는 수준의 의견합일에는 거의 미치지 못하고 있는 상태이다..

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- San Francisco police on Wednesday raided Occupy camp in the city, arresting 70 campers and protesters and clearing up the two-month-old encampment.
According to San Francisco police spokesman, 30 Occupy campers, who refused to leave the site, were arrested after police gave them five minutes to clear out around 1:30 a.m. local time, and another 40 were arrested when they blocked Market Street, an important thoroughfare in the city.
A camper told San Francisco Chronicle newspaper that most of the campers hadn't had time to get their belongings and police and protesters clashed for a bit.
In a statement, San Francisco mayor Ed Lee said that communication with the Occupy SF leaders "deteriorated to a point where it was clear that no progress could be made," and city agencies peacefully and orderly ended the encampment in order to maintain public health, safety and return the encampment site for everyone's use.
The city had offered to relocate the Occupy campers to the site of a former high school. According to San Francisco Chronicle, although many campers expressed interest, a near-consensus could not be reached as required by Occupy protocols.
