China briefs foreign attaches on defense white paper
BEIJING, March 31 (Xinhua) -- A total of 115 military attaches from 81 countries on Thursday listened to a briefing in Beijing on China's newly issued white paper on national defense.
The document, the seventh of its kind the Chinese government has issued since 1998, aims to enhance military transparency and boost the world's trust in the country's commitment to peaceful development.
Qian Lihua, director of the Foreign Affairs Office with the National Defense Ministry, introduced the content of the white paper titled "China's National Defense in 2010" and answered questions on China's defense policy, armed forces and military diplomacy.
Qian said the white paper spelt out that China will always stick to the path of peaceful development and its national defense policy is defensive in nature.
The white paper also displays the latest achievements of China's national defense and construction of the armed forces as well as the efforts of the Chinese army in safeguarding world and regional peace and stability, Qian said

중국 국방백서 발표
베이징, 3월 31일(신화) - 중국주재 81개국 외국공관에 근무하는 무관 총 115명이 베이징에서 31일 새로 발행된 중국 국방 백서에 대해 브리핑을 받았다.
1998년 이후 7번째인 중국정부의 국방백서는 중국 국방정책의 투명성을 재고하고 중국의 무기개발의 평화적 목적에 대해 세계각국의 신뢰를 얻기 위한 것이다.
중국 국방부 외사판공실 첸리화 실장 (인민해방군 소장)은 “2010년 중국 국방” 이라고 표제가 붙은 백서의 내용에 대해서 소개하고 중국의 국방정책, 군사력과 군사외교에 대한 질문에 답변했다.
첸실장은 중국은 평화적 군사개발과 방어적 성격의 국가방위정책을 항상 견지하고 있다는 것을 백서에서 상세히 서술하고 있다 고 말했다.
첸실장은 또 백서에서 중국이 최근 국가 방위활동과 군사력 증강으로 세계와 지역의 평화와 안정을 보호하기 위한 노력을 하는 것을 잘 표시하고 있다고 말했다.
