SKorea will punish 10 diplomats over China scandal
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — South Korea says 10 former and current diplomats posted at its Shanghai consulate will be punished after an investigation found some diplomats had "inappropriate relationships" with a Chinese woman.
The Foreign Ministry said Friday it will quickly and sternly deal with those involved.
The investigation released by the prime minister's office says some of the diplomats issued visas to Chinese citizens without properly reviewing applications.
Documents with phone numbers for high-ranking South Korean officials also were leaked but are not considered state secrets.
South Korea started investigating two weeks ago after receiving a tip.

서울 (AP) - 한국정부는 몇명의 외교관이 한 중국인 여인과 부적절한 관계를 가진 것으로 조사 결과 판명된후 상하이 영사관에 근무하는 10명의 전 현직 외교관을 처벌할 것이다 고 말했다. 25일 외무부는 이 사건을 신속하고 엄격하게 처리할 것이다 고 말했다.
한국 국무총리실의 발표에 의하면 이들 외교관은 적절한 서류심사 없이 중국인들에게 비자를 발급해 주었다고 했다. 한국 정부 고위인사의 전화번호부가 누출되었는데 비밀문건으로 간주되지는 안는다. 한국정부는 재보를 받은 후 2주 동안 조사를 벌려왔다.
