[모스코바=신화통신/KNS뉴스통신] 러시아는 2018년까지 국내의 관광산업을 대폭 발전시키기 위해 미화 35억불 상당을 투입할 것이라고 지난 27일 발표했다.
러시아는 국토 전체에 걸쳐서 레크리에이션(여가) 산업을 위한 풍부한 자원을 소유하고 있으나 1/3 이상은 미개발 상태라고 블라디미르 푸틴 수상이 말한 것으로 국영 이탈 타스통신이 인용했다.
세계적으로 유명한 문화적, 역사적 기념물들과 자연 경관들에 둘러싸인 러시아의 수많은 도시들에서 그러나 관광이 매우 소극적이고 느린 속도로 개발되고 있는 바, 푸틴은 이런 문제점들이 빈약한 서비스와 터무니없이 비싼 가격 등 문제 때문이라고 분석을 했다는 것이다.
거대한 관광개발 계획 수립 및 발표 시, 푸틴 수상은 개발자금이 가장 매력적인 투자 프로젝트를 지원하는 데와 교통 인프라 진흥 사업 등에 집중적으로 사용돼야 한다고 주장하고 있다.
이런 노력과 함께 러시아정부는 추후 7년 동안 관광객 수가 2천 9백만 명에서 4천 9백만 명 수준으로 증가하며, 관광산업 서비스 시장이 30억 달러 규모에서 150억 달러규모로 성장될 것을 기대하고 있다.
러시아는 세계자연유산 수는 세계 제 4위이고 세계문화유산 수는 세계 제 13위인데 반하여, 관광산업의 질과 수준에 있어서는 세계경제포럼(WEF)의 평가로 세계 제 59위에 불과하다.

MOSCOW, July 29 (Xinhua) -- Russia announced Friday that it will allocate some 3.5 billion U.S. dollars by 2018 to shore up the domestic tourism industry.
Russia has rich resources for recreation throughout the country, but no more than a third of its tourism potential has been explored, the state-run Itar-Tass news agency quoted Prime Minister Vladimir Putin as saying.
"In Russian towns, which have world famous cultural and historical monuments and nature sites, tourism is developing passively and slowly," Putin said, citing such problems as poor services and exorbitant prices.
When unveiling the grand tourism development plan, Putin requested that the funds be used to support the most attractive investment projects, improve transport infrastructure and promote private investment in tourism.
With those efforts, the Russian government expected that during the next seven years, the number of domestic tourists would increase from 29 million to 49 million and the tourism service market would grow from 3 billion dollars to 15 billion dollars.
Russia ranks fourth by the number of natural World Heritage sites (WHSs) and the 13th by the number of cultural WHSs, yet it ranks only the 59th by the quality of its tourism business, according to a report from the World Economic Forum.
