[프랑크푸르트=AP/KNS뉴스통신] 미국의 국가신용 등급 강등과 유로존 국가의 금융위기 여파로 요동치고 있는 세계 금융시장을 안정시키기 위해 유럽중앙은행은 7일 스페인과 이탈리아의 국채 매입계획을 강력하게 추진할 것이라고 발표했다.
이번 발표는 8일의 금융시장 개장 전에 시장에 긍정적인 신호를 보내려는 의도로 보인다
G20 국가의 재무담당자들도 시장의 충격을 최소화하기 위한 협의를 진행하고 있는 가운데 주요 7개국 (G7) 재무장관과 중앙은행 총재는 전화 긴급회의를 갖고 금융시장 안정화를 위한 G7각국이 협조하기로 합의했다.
이러한 급박한 움직임은 유럽과 미국의 부채 문제로 인하여 2007-2009의 세계 금융대란과 유사한 금융위기가 재발할 수 있다는 위기감을 반영한 것이다.

European Central Bank to buy government bonds
FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) — The European Central Bank says it will "actively implement" a bond-purchase program that could boost Spanish and Italian bonds and drive down interest yields that threaten those countries with financial disaster.
Sunday's statement from bank President Jean-Claude Trichet comes as global finance officials discussed ways to ward off more turmoil ahead of the opening of financial markets on Monday, the first substantial trading after the U.S. lost its triple-A bond rating from Standard & Poor's on Friday.
Officials from the Group of 20 rich and developing countries also held talks aimed at minimizing market shocks. G-7 officials were reportedly to confer before markets open in Asia as well.
The G-7 includes Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, the U.S. and Japan, while the G-20 includes those countries and others with large and emerging economies.
The burst of activity on a Sunday in August underscored how government debt levels in Europe and the U.S. have unsettled financial markets — and sharpened fears that debt troubles could derail the global recovery from the 2007-2009 financial crisis.
