Chicago grain prices slump as concerns mount over Japan nuclear threat
CHICAGO, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Chicago grain futures prices ended sharply lower Tuesday on concerns that the devastating earthquake and escalating nuclear crisis in Japan may further damp Japan's demand for raw materials. The worldwide panic selling also increased downward pressure on grain prices.
The most active corn contract for May delivery slumped 30 cents, or 4.5 percent, to close at 6.36 U.S. dollars per bushel. May wheat plunged 53 cents, or 7.4 percent, to 6.6775 dollars per bushel. May soybean lost 70 cents, or 5.2 percent, to 12.7 dollars per bushel.
Tuesday witnessed a third explosion at Japan's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, and dangerous levels of radiation were released. Three of the six reactors at the nuclear complex in northeastern Japan were damaged by a 9.0-magnitude earthquake and ensuing tsunami last Friday.

그 중개인은 원자력 발전소 위험 때문에 일본의 항만이 영구히 패쇄 될 수 도 있다는 우려를 나타냈다.
