Japan downgrades 4Q economic growth rate
TOKYO (AP) — Japan's economy shrunk more than initially thought in the fourth quarter, the government said Thursday.
Real gross domestic product contracted at an annualized rate of 1.3 percent in the October-December period, worse than the negative 1.1 percent growth reported in preliminary data last month.
The Cabinet Office's revised report includes weaker figures for business investment and consumer spending, which accounts for more than half of Japan's GDP.
The annualized figure translates to a 0.3 percent fall from the previous three-month period.
Private consumption fell 0.8 percent, worse than a 0.7 percent decline in the previous estimate. Business investment grew 0.5 percent instead of a 0.9 percent climb recorded initially.
Also. slightly steeper slowdown in exports also contributed to the quarterly slump.
For the full 2010 calendar year, Japan's economy expanded 3.9 percent, un changed from the preliminary report.
The road ahead looks brighter, with economists saying GDP — a measure of the value of all goods and services produced domestically — will expand this quarter in tandem with rising global demand.

일본경제 4분기 성장률 감소
도쿄 (AP) - 일본정부는 10일, 4분기 경제 성장률이 처음 생각한 것보다 더 감소했다고 발표했다.

또한 가파른 수출의 감소가 4분기 정체를 야기했다. 2010년 전체기준으로 일본경제는 예비보고서 내용과 같은 3.9% 성장했다.
일본 국내의 총 재화와 서비스의 총액을 나타낸다고 경제학자들이 말하는 국내 총생산은 세계적 수요증가와 함께 앞날은 밝아 보인다.
