U.S. praises Algeria's lifting of state of emergency
WASH INGTON, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Barack Obama on Thursday commended the government of Algeria for lifting the 19-year-old state of emergency, saying such a move is a positive sign, the White House said in a statement.
Obama said it showed that the government of Algeria is listening to the "concerns and responding to the aspirations of its people," according to the statement.
He said the United States is committed to continuing its cooperation with the Algerian government.
The state of emergency was declared on Feb. 9, 1992 in Algeria. The Algerian government officially lifted the state of emergency on Thursday.

미국정부 알제리 비상사태 해제 반겨
