오스트레일리아 농업, 아시아 호황 혜택 받을 것 [신화통신]

시드니, 5월 16일 (신화) - 16일 오스트레일리아 웨인 스완 재무장관은 농업분야도 현재 호황을 누리고 있는 자원분야와 같이 아시아 경제 성장의 혜택을 받을 것으로 내다 봤다.

웨인 스완 장관은 2020년 까지 아시아의 중산층 인구수가 12억명 증가하면서 각국으로부터 더 많은 수요가 발생할 것으로 오스트레일리아 농민들은 예측해야 한다고 말했다.

장관은 철광석과 석탄에 대한 수요의 증가처럼 농업분야에서도 수요증가를 경험하게 될 것이다 고 말했다.

스완 장관은 농업분야에 대해 국내 투자가 이루어지고 있지 않지만, 오스트레일리아 농업분야의 저력을 세계가 인정하고 있다고 말했다.

Australian farmers set to benefit from Asia's economic growth, says Treasurer

SYDNEY, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Australia's agricultural industry will benefit from Asia's economic growth just as much as the booming resources sector, Treasurer Wayne Swan said on Monday.

Swan said the country's farmers would see a rise in demand from developing economies across Asia, as the number of middle class consumers in Asia is expected to increase by more than 1.2 billion by 2020.

"The demand that we see for iron ore and coal is going to be replicated, maybe not at the same level, when it comes to basic agricultural products," he said.

The prospects for the domestic agricultural sector were mostly ignored by local investors, but the strength of the industry was recognized around the world, Swan said.
