자선의 귀재 워런 버핏, 게이츠재단에 15억 달러 기증

[시애틀=AP/KNS뉴스통신] 투자의 귀재 워런 버핏이 ‘빌앤드 멜린다게이츠기금에 버크셔해서웨이 주식을 매년 기증하려는 계획의 일환으로 올해 15억 달러 상당의 주식을 양도했다.

버핏은 자신소유의 버크셔 B급 주식 1,934만 주를 기부했다고 7일 미국 증권거래위원회에 보고했다

버크셔 B급 주식의 7일 종가는 77.77 달러였다.

버핏은 마이크로소프트 창업자인 빌 게이츠와 아내가 운영하는 ‘빌앤드 멜린다게이츠기금에 자신의 재산 대부분을 양도하려는 계획가운데 5년째 기부이며, 3월 31일 현재 이 재단의 기금은 371억 달러에 달하고 있다.

미국 네브래스카주 오마하에 본부를 둔 버크셔해서웨이는 보험, 가구, 카펫, 보석, 식당업체등 60여개 회사를 소유하고 있다.

Buffett gives $1.5B in stock to Gates Foundation

SEATTLE (AP) — Investor Warren Buffett has made his annual gift of Berkshire Hathaway stock to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, turning over about $1.5 billion worth of stock.

According to a Thursday filing with the Securities and Ex　change Commission, Buffett donated 19.34 million Class B shares of the company's stock.

The closing price of Class B shares on Thursday was $77.77.

The gift is the fifth installment in Buffett's plan to transfer the majority of his wealth to the Seattle-based foundation run by the Microsoft Corp. co-founder and his wife. The foundation is the world's largest with an endowment of $37.1 billion as of March 31.

Omaha, Nebraska-based Berkshire Hathaway owns a mix of more than 60 companies, including insurance, furniture, carpet, jewelry, restaurants and utility businesses.
