[리우 데 자네이루=신화/KNS] 13일 기도 만테가 브라질 재무장관은 브라질이 아직 국제통화기금 총재 후보자 가운데 누구를 지지할 것인지 결정한 것이 없다고 밝혔다.
재무장관은 브라질이 후보자의 제안을 검토한 후 적절한 시기에 결정을 내릴 것이라고 말했다.
그는 브라질의 지지를 획득하기 위해서 후보자들은 국제통화기금의 개혁에 대해 확실한 공약을 제시해야 할 것이라고 전했다.
브라질은 국제통화기금의 역활이 현재의 글로벌 경제상항에 맞지 않은 것으로 평가하고 개발도상국들이 통화기금의 결정과정에 더 많이 참여할 수 있도록 개혁을 추진할 뜻을 내 보였다.
재무장관은 “과거 수년 동안 개발도상국가가 선진국보다 세계 경제 성장과 재정 안정에 더 많은 기여를 했다”고 말했다.
국제통화기금 관계자는 크리스틴 라가르드 프랑스 재무장관과 멕시코중앙은행 아구스틴 카스텐스 총재가 후보로 입후보했으며 6월 30일 신임총재가 탄생할 것으로 발표했다.

Brazil remains undecided who to support for IMF directorship
RIO DE JANEIRO, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian Finance Minister Guido Mantega said on Monday that Brazil has yet to decide which candidate to support in their bid for directorship of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Brazil is evaluating the candidates' proposals and will make the decision "at a right moment," said the minister.
He said the candidates should make commitment to IMF's reform if they want to get support from Brazil.
Brazil believes IMF's structure no longer fits the global economic landscape, and pushes for reforms to win greater decision-making power for emerging countries in the organization.
"In the last few years, the emerging countries have performed better than the developed countries, with more economic growth and fiscal responsibilities," said the minister.
Christine Lagarde from France and Agustin Carstens from Mexico have been shortlisted for the position of IMF's new chief. The final decision will be made by June 30, said sources with the IMF.
