[런던(영국)=AP/KNS뉴스통신] 2012 런던올림픽을 출전을 앞두고 100명 이상이 금지 약물 복용으로 출전이 금지됐다.
24일(현지시각) AP통신은 세계반도핑기구(WADA) 존 페헤이 회장의 말을 인용해 지난 1월부터 6월까지 약물 사용이 의심되는 선수에 대한 도핑검사를 실시했고, 그 결과 107명에 해당하는 선수들이 양성반응을 나타내 올림픽 출전 자격이 박탈됐다고 보도했다.
존 페헤이 회장은 “그들의 잘못된 열망으로 런던에 출전하지 못하게된 것에 만족한다”며 “이번 런던 올림픽은 가장 엄격한 도핑 검사를 실시하기 때문에 피할 수 없을 것”이라고 경고했다.
한편 국제올림픽위원회(IOC) 역시 선수촌을 연 지난 16일부터 올림픽이 끝나는 다음 달 12일까지 5000 번 이상의 도핑 검사를 실시하겠다는 방침이다.
지금껏 300번의 도핑 검사가 진행됐지만 양성 반응은 나타나지 않았다고 마크 애덤스 대변인은 밝혔다. 도팡 검사를 위해 수집한 샘플은 향후 8년까지 보관돼 신 도핑 검사방식 개발 당시 추가적인 도핑 검사를 받는다.
지난 2004 아테네올림픽 당시 수집한 샘플들을 대상으로 최근 실시한 추가 검사에서는 5개에서 양성 반응이 나온 것으로 알려졌다.

World Anti-Doping Agency President John Fahey on Tuesday announced the results of a program designed to test athletes under suspicion before they arrived in London. In the six months to mid-June, at least 107 athletes drew doping bans, ruling them out of the games. Fahey acknowledged that perhaps not all would have qualified to compete.
"Had that been their ambition, then I am pleased to say that they are not with us in London,"
"Doping athletes should know that their chances of avoiding detection are the smallest they have ever been," the WADA leader said.
The IOC plans to conduct more than 5,000 doping tests during the official Olympics period, which began when the athletes' village opened July 16.
The first 300 such tests were all negative, IOC spokesman Mark Adams said Tuesday.
Samples taken at the Olympics are kept for eight years to allow for retesting if new detection methods are developed.
In retests of samples from the 2004 Athens Olympics, the IOC has identified five possible positive results that require further investigation.
