[키예프(우크라이나)=AP/KNS뉴스통신] 유로2012 우승을 이끈 스페인의 수장 비센테 델 보스케 감독은 할아버지와 같은 친근한 외모에 현명함과 겸손함까지 고루 갖춘 축구계의 명장이다. 그는 1일(현지시각) 유럽축구계의 최강자를 뽑는 유로대회에서 우승컵을 거머쥐며 지난 월드컵에 이어 연속 2회 메이저 우승을 이끌었다.
델 보스케 감독은 이탈리아를 상대로 4-0 대승을 거두며 유로대회 첫 수장의 자리를 제대로 빛냈다. 그는 전임자이던 루이스 아라고네스 전 감독의 성공을 그대로 이어 그 만의 전술과 친화력으로 스페인을 최강팀의 자리에 올려놓았다.
그는 지난 1972년 유로대회 전신인 유로피안 챔피언쉽과 1974년 월드컵에서 승리를 거머쥔 바 있다. 올해 61세인 그는 챔피언스 리그 3번의 우승과 스페인 리그 우승 타이틀을 비롯해, 대륙컵과 유럽 슈퍼컵까지 승리하는 업적을 올렸다.
KIEV, Ukraine (AP) — Vicente del Bosque has the appearance of a grandfather, exuding wisdom and modesty — traits he exhibited again Sunday after becoming only the second coach in history to win back-to-back World Cup and European Championship titles.
Del Bosque added another trophy to his already illustrious cabinet as Spain became the first European country to successfully defend its continental crown with a 4-0 victory over Italy at Euro 2012.
As always, he preferred not to take any of credit for carrying on the success started by predecessor Luis Aragones, who implemented the slick style passing game that carried it to the Euro 2008 title.
Del Bosque, who matched Schoen's achievement of winning the 1972 European Championship and 1974 World Cup. The 61-year-old Del Bosque added the only major accolade missing after having won a pair of Champions League and Spanish league titles, an Intercontinental Cup and a European Super Cup with Real Madrid.
