중국의 글로벌 타임즈지는 최근 반 체재인사들에 대한 탄압이 강화된 가운데 연례 중미 인권에 대한 대화를 시작한 다음 날 사설에서 강하게 반론을 제기했다.
과거 수년간 계속된 대화에서도 진척을 보지 못했으나, 금년의 회담은 더욱 더 긴장된 가운데 진행될 것으로 보인다. 많은 인권운동단체들은 양국 간의 인권관계 회담의 필요성에 의문을 나타내고 있다.
글로벌 타임즈지는 중국은 미국의 어떤 요청도 받아들일 수 없으며 인권문제에 대한 외국의 압력에 혐오감을 느낀다고 보도했다.
신문사설에서 “주권국가인 중국이 미국의 정치개혁에 대한 압력을 용인할 수 있는 가능성은 제로이다“ 고 썼다.

China media say US human rights pressure will fail
BEIJING (AP) — China will never allow the U.S. to dictate political reforms and any American pressure over human rights will torpedo talks on such issues, a Communist Party-run newspaper said Thursday.
The defiant editorial in the Global Times appeared on the second day of an annual China-U.S. human rights dialogue that comes amid a major Chinese crackdown on government critics.
Talks have yielded little progress in recent years and are expected to be even more testy than usual this year. Many human rights advocates are questioning the value of such diplomatic exchanges.
The Global Times said China would not accept requests from the U.S. and claimed that most Chinese "were disgusted" by outside pressure on human rights.
"As China is a sovereign nation, there is zero possibility of it allowing the U.S. to dictate its political development," the editorial said.
