[앙카라=AP/KNS뉴스통신] 터키 당국자는 시리아로 무기를 운반하는 것으로 의심받고 있는 독일 선적 선박에 대한 수색을 계속하고 있다고 밝혔다.
19일 터키의 세관 당국자는 세관원, 경찰, 준군사요원들이 애틀랜틱 크루스 호를 터키 동부의 이스켄데룬 항에서 수색하고 있다고 발표했다.
지난주 이 선박의 소유주가 시리아 정부 망명자로 부터 무기를 운반하고 있다는 정보를 입수하자 지중해에서 정선시켜 터키 항으로 예인했다.
현재 터키 정부는 9,000명이 사망한 것으로 추산되는 시리아 민중봉기에 대한 유혈진압이 계속되자 시리아에 대한 무기 수출을 금지시키고 있다.

Turkey searches German ship over Syria arms claim
ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — A Turkish official says a search is underway on a German-owned ship over allegations it is carrying weapons to Syria.
The customs official says Thursday that customs officers, police and paramilitary forces are searching the Atlantic Cruiser in the eastern Mediterranean port of Iskenderun, where it had been scheduled to unload goods. The official spoke anonymously in line with government rules.
The ship was halted in the Mediterranean last week after its owners received information — allegedly from Syrian government defectors — that it may be carrying weapons.
Turkey enforces an arms embargo against Syria's government because of its yearlong crackdown on a popular uprising, which is estimated to have left more than 9,000 people dead.
