서울, 4월 28일 (신화통신) - 청와대는 서울에서 한국의 이명박 대통령과 이라크 누리 알 말리키 수상이 양국의 경제협력관계를 증진시키기 위한 회담을 개최했다고 발표했다.
청와대는 성명을 발표하고 양국의 경제구조가 호혜적인 관계로 발전할 수 있는 요소가 많다고 하면서 양국 경제 에너지 협력에 관한 협정 체결로 경제적 유대가 강화될 수 있다고 밝혔다.
이 대통령은 이라크의 유전개발에 한국기업이 참여할 수 있도록 지원을 요청하고 에너지 분야의 협력은 추후 기반시설 건설의 협조로 발전할 것이라고 강조했다.
청와대에 의하면 알 말리키 수상은 이라크 재건사업에 한국의 활발한 참여를 촉구한 것으로 발표했다.
이라크의 말리키 수상은 30일까지 4일간 서울에 머무를 예정으로 방문했다.

S. Korean, Iraqi leaders seek strengthened economic ties
SEOUL, April 28 (Xinhua) -- South Korean President Lee Myung- bak and Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki held talks here Thursday over bolstering bilateral economic ties, Lee's office Cheong Wa Dae said.
The two leaders, noting that their countries have economic structures that can be mutually beneficial to each other, agreed their bilateral accords on economic and energy cooperation will help enhance their economic ties, Cheong Wa Dae said in a statement.
Lee asked the Iraqi leader for support for South Korean companies wishing to tap into Iraq's oil field development, stressing that cooperation in the energy sector can later expand into cooperation on infrastructure-building.
Al-Maliki, in response, called for South Korea's active participation in reconstruction projects in his country, according to Cheong Wa Dae.
The Iraqi leader is scheduled to wrap up his four-day Seoul visit on Saturday.
