도쿄 (APP) - 소니는 금년 말 애플의 아이패드와 유사한 터치 패널의 태블릿 피시의 출시를 계획하고 있다고 하면서 비슷한 기기 중에 최상의 사양과 엔터테인먼트 강점을 갖추었다고 밝혔다.
도쿄에서 26일 발표한 코드명 S1 제품은 영화, 음악비디오, 게임과 전자책을 이용할 수 있고 이메일과 소셜 네트워크의 온라인 접속이 가능한 9.4인치 디스플레이를 갖추고 있다.
전자제품과 엔터테인먼트 기기부문에서 강점이 있는 소니는 5.5인치 디스플레이 2개가 탑재되어 있는 책과 같이 반으로 접어 휴대가 용이한 소형 태블릿PC인 S2모델도 동시에 발표했다.
쿠니마사 스즈키 소니 부사장이 가격에 대해서는 언급하지 않았지만 올해 9월부터 출시될 것으로 전망했다. 새로 발표한 태블릿PC는 구글의 안드로이드 3.0 OS를 사용한다,

Sony shows tablets to compete with Apple offerings
TOKYO (AP) — Sony is planning a tablet computer with a touch panel similar to Apple's iPad for later this year that the Japanese manufacturer promises will make the best of its gadgetry and entertainment strengths.
The product code-named S1, shown Tuesday in Tokyo, comes with a 9.4 inch display for enjoying online content, such as movies, music, video games and electronics books, and for online connections, including email and social networking.
Sony, which boasts electronics as well as entertainment divisions, also showed S2, a smaller mobile device with two 5.5 inch displays that can be folded like a book.
It did not give prices. Sony Corp. Senior Vice President Kunimasa Suzuki said the products will go on sale worldwide from about September. Both run Google's Android 3.0 operating system.
