The White House said the two leaders agreed that "attacks against civilians" must stop, and urged Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi to "step down" and leave Libya "permanently."
It said the two also expressed their "deep concern" about the Syrian government's "unacceptable use of violence."
The White House added that the Syrian government "must end the use of violence now" and "promptly enact meaningful reforms."
