두바이, 아랍 에미리트 연합 (AP) - 사우디 아라비아 석유장관은 현재 세계 석유시장이 공급과잉 상태라고 말하여 사우디가 곧 유가를 끌어 내리기 위해 생산량을 증가할 것이라는 관측에 찬물을 끼 언 졌다.
17일 국영 사우디통신은 알리 나이미 사우디 석유장관이 사우디 아라비아는 필요시 소비자의 수요를 충족시킬 수 있으나, 현재 시장은 공급과잉 상태라고 말한 것으로 인용 보도했다.
장관에 의하면 사우디는 시장의 공급과잉 상태로 인해 일일 생산량을 2월의 9백십만 배럴에서 3월, 8백3십만 배럴로 감산하고 있다고 했다.
사우디 아라비아는 일일 1천2백5십만 배럴의 석유생산 능력을 갖추고 있는 세계 1위의 석유 수출국이며 12개국으로 구성된 석유수출국기구(OPEC)의 비공식 지도자의 지위에 있다.

Saudi oil minister says market is oversupplied
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Saudi Arabia's oil minister says the global oil market is oversupplied, dampening hopes OPEC will soon boost its output in an effort to bring down prices.
Ali Naimi was quoted by the official Saudi Press Agency late Sunday in Kuwait saying that the kingdom can meet consumer demands in time of need, but for now the market has too much supply.
He said Saudi Arabia cut daily output to 8.3 million in March from 9.1 million barrels in February due to what it sees as excess supply. He said output will likely rise again in April.
Saudi Arabia has the capacity to pump 12.5 million barrels. The kingdom is the world's largest oil exporter and is seen as the unofficial leader of the 12-nation Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries.
