Iran marks national nuclear technology day
TEHRAN, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Iran celebrated the national nuclear technology day on Saturday and hailed the country's new achievements in the field of nuclear technology.
Addressing the ceremony, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad hailed the country's "peaceful" nuclear achievements, saying that no nuclear capacity should remain out of the Iranians' reach.
Iran's Atomic Chief, Fereidoon Abbasi said Saturday the country is to launch a unit of Ceramic Grade Uranium Dioxide with natural purity at uranium processing firm in central city of Isfahan soon, the semi-official ISNA news agency reported.
The yellow cake (U308) is turned into a natural pure uranium dioxide (U02) through a complex process and is able to be changed to ceramic. It can be used for production of fuel at Arak heavy- water reactor, Abbasi was quoted as saying in the ceremony.
He also added Tehran and Arak research reactors enjoy unique facilities to produce medical radioisotopes for incurable diseases, said ISNA.
Abbasi said that Iranian nuclear scientists have recently managed to design the third generation of centrifuges and tested them successfully.
Iran's achievements in nuclear technology showed "the Iranian nation cannot be defeated" in face of threats and sanctions, Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying by local satellite Press TV.
"Not only should we be able to use all our capacities and potentials in nuclear technology, we should also export the nuclear know-how," Ahmadinejad said according to Press TV.
He also criticized the western countries for their "double standards" regarding Iran's nuclear program.
On Saturday, Iran's Foreign Minister, Ali-Akbar Salehi, refuted the claims by the Paris-based Iranian dissident group, the People 's Mujahedin of Iran (PMOI), that Iran is secretly producing centrifuge parts in a factory to the west of Tehran.
"I am surprised. This is not a new discovery. We are making centrifuges. And their pieces are being produced in different parts of the country, " Salehi was quoted by ISNA as saying.
"There is such a factory in Karaj (to the west of Tehran) that the reporters have already visited and this is not anything secret, " Salehi added.
Salehi also confirmed Saturday that fuel is being reloaded in the Bushehr nuclear power plant.
The reactor of Bushehr plant will reach the critical phase between May 5 and May 10, Salehi was quoted as saying by Press TV.
Russian contractor Atomstroyexport said Friday it had resumed loading fuel into the reactor at Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant.
The state-owned contractor said in a statement its specialists in Iran started the refuelling operation after the completion of a series of checks on the Bushehr plant and cleansing of the pipes.
The company also said the earlier removal of fuel was "a necessary measure" to ensure safety, as the Russian specialists found several small metal pieces had entered a cooling system.
However, the statement did not spell out when the Bushehr plant would be commissioned.

통신는 원자력 책임자는 테헤란과 아라크의 연구용원자로는 불치병 치료용 방사능 동위원소를 생산하는 시설로 이용되고 있다고 말한 것으로 보도했다.
아바시는 이란 핵과학자들이 최근 3세대 원심분리기를 설계하고 성능실험에 성공했다고 말했다.
이란의 위성 프레스 TV는 아하마디네자드 대통령이 이란의 핵기술의 업적은 위협과 제재로 막을 수 없다는 사실을 보여주는 것이라고 말했다고 인용 보도했다.
통신에 의하면 대통령은 이란은 모든 원자력기술의 능력과 잠재력의 이용뿐만 아니라 핵 기술의 수출도 할 수 있어야 한다고 말했다고 한다.

러시아 계약사인 아톰스토로이엑스포트사는 8일 이란 부시르 원자력 발전소의 원자로에 연료충전을 재개할 것이다 고 말했다.
러시아 국영 계약사는 성명서에서 러시아 핵전문가들이 부시르발전소에 대한 몇 단계의 검사를 마치고 연료봉을 청소한 후 재충전작업을 시작 할 것이다 고 발표했다.
러시아 계약사는 러시아 전문가들이 냉각장치 안에 작은 금속 조각 몇 개가 들어간 것을 발견하고 안전을 위해 연료를 제거했던 것은 필요한 조치였다고 말했다.
그러나 성명서에서 부시르 원자력 발전소의 시운전 시기에 대해서는 언급하지 않았다.
