China concerned over release of radioactive water
BEIJING (AP) — China says it is concerned over Japan's release of radioactive water from its crippled nuclear plant into the Pacific Ocean.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said Friday that China has sent an official notice of its concerns to Japan, asking for information in a timely and accurate way.
In a statement posted on the ministry's website, Hong said China hopes Japan will take concrete measures to protect the marine environment.
Japan has been releasing contaminated water from the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant into the ocean to free up storage space for more highly radioactive water.
Radioactivity is quickly diluted in the ocean, and Japanese officials said the release should not affect the safety of seafood in the area.

중국 방사선 오염 수 방출에 우려 표시
베이징 (AP) - 중국정부는 일본이 붕괴된 원자력 발전소에서 방사선 오염수를 태평양으로 유출시키는 것에 대해 우려를 나타냈다.
홍레이 중국외교부 대변인은 8일 중국은 일본정부에 공식통보를 보내 우려를 표시했으며 신속하고 정확한 정보를 요청했다고 말했다.

일본의 정부 관료들은 방사선은 태평양에서 빠르게 희석되어 오염 수 유출로 인하여 근해 해산물의 안정성을 해치지 않는다고 말했다.
