그는 미국과 북한 간에는 많은 문제에 대해 이견이 존재한다고 인정하면서도 지난주 뉴욕에서 열린 미국과 북한간의 공식회담과 같은 공식적인 대화가 진행돼야 한다고 말했다.
북한 김 계관 부외상과 미국 6자회담 스티븐 보스워스 대표는 지난 주 북미 접촉을 건설적이고 실무적인 것으로 평가한 바 있다.

Former US officals, scholars meet NKoreans
NEW YORK (AP) — Former U.S. diplomats and scholars who met unofficially with North Korea's visiting delegation say both sides in last week's formal talks believe continued dialogue is necessary.
Donald Zagoria, of the National Committee on American Foreign Policy, a nonpartisan think tank, said he and other North Korea specialists held "frank, but very friendly" discussions with the North Korean delegation on Monday at the Carnegie Corporation.
Zagoria, project director for the committee's Forum on Asia Pacific Security, nevertheless says that the United States and North Korea remain far apart on many issues.
Both North Korean Vice Foreign Minister Kim Kye Gwan and U.S. Ambassador Stephen Bosworth, the top American envoy on North Korean affairs, had characterized last week's discussions as "constructive and businesslike"
The meeting follows talks Thursday and Friday between the North Koreans and U.S. diplomats at the American mission to the United Nations.
