[카라카스=AP/KNS뉴스통신] 베네수엘라 우고 차베스 대통령은 1일 리비아 모아마르 카다피 지도자를 축출하려는 리비아 반군의 국가과도정부를 인정하지 않고 카다피를 지지한다고 말한 것으로 알려졌다.

차베스 대통령은 카다피를 지칭하면서 “나는 그를 존중한다” “그는 리비아에서 저항하고 있다. 리비아여 영원 하라” 고 말했다.

차베스 대통령은 리비아에서 진행되는 나토의 폭격을 비난하면서 리비아 반군의 리비아 국가 과도위원회를 “테러리스트 집단”으로 혹평했다.

라틴 아메리카에서 미국의 외교정책에 대해 가장 신랄하게 반대하고 있는 차베스 대통령은 미국과 유럽 연합의 공격을 무차별적인 폭격이라고 비난하면서 서방연합의 군사작전은 정당성을 상실했으며 유혈사태만 불러온다고 비난했다.

Chavez: Venezuela firmly backing Libya's Gadhafi

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — President Hugo Chavez said Monday that Venezuela would not recognize the governing body of Libya's rebels, defending Moammar Gadhafi and urging his ally to stand firm against the armed movement aimed at ousting the Libyan leader.

"I respect him a lot," Chavez said, referring to Gadhafi. "He's resisting there. Long live Libya!"

Chavez condemned NATO airstrikes in Libya and called the North African nation's rebel National Transitional Council a "　　group of terrorists."

Addressing Gadhafi, Chavez said: "Live and be victorious. We're with you."

Chavez — one of Latin America's most outspoken critics of Washington's foreign policy — has repeatedly condemned what he calls "indiscriminate bombing" by the United States and its allies in Libya, saying their military attacks are unjustified and will only unleash more bloodshed.
