[뉴욕=신화통신/KNS뉴스통신] - 미국과 북한(DPRK) 양측의 회담 대표들은 29일 뉴욕에서 오랫동안 교착상태였던 ‘한반도 비핵화를 위한 6자회담’재개를 목표로 한 이틀간의 탐색회담을 마쳤다.
양측 모두 “진지하고 업무적인(constructuve and business-like) 회의”라고 말했다.
미국무부의 스티븐 보스워스(Stephen Bosworth) 대북정책특별대표 역시 유엔주재 미국대표부 밖에 있던 기자들에게 회담이 “진지하고 업무적인”회담이었다고 논평했다.
그는 미국은 처음부터 이 회담은 탐색적인(preparatory) 회담’이라고 말했음을 지적했다.
“만약 북한이 실제행동을 통해 명확한 태도와 진정성을 가진 파트너로서 6자 방식 회담 지지를 열성적으로 보여준다면, 북한을 위해서 회담재개는 물론 미국과의 관계 개선, 그리고 더욱 튼튼한 지역안보의 길은 열려있다” 고 미국은 늘 되풀이해왔다고 말했다.
북한외무성 김계관 제1부상은 둘째 날인 29일 미국 측 회담 참가자들과의 오찬간담회를 끝으로 유엔주재 미국대표부를 떠났다.
그는 기자들에게 회담은 끝났으며 공동 성명발표는 없다고 말했다.
김계관 제1부상은 한국어로 회담은 “건설적이며 업무적인” 회담이었다고 말했다. 양측 상호 이해관계를 포괄적으로 다룬 회담이었으며, 북한은 미국과 앞으로도 계속 회담을 가지려한다고 밝혔다.
지난 24일 힐러리 클린턴 미국무성 장관이 2년 이상 교착상태로 있던 6자회담 재개에 대한 논의를 위해 김계관부상을 뉴욕으로 초대하면서 양국간 회담이 성사된 것이다.
지난 22일에는 한국의 위성락 한반도평화교섭본부장이 인도네시아 발리에서 북한의 리용호 부상과 양국회담을 가졌는데, 이때 6자회담 재개를 위해 노력하기로 합의를 했다.
6자회담은 중국, 북한, 미국, 한국, 러시아 그리고 일본이 참가자로 2003년 출범했다.
2008년 교착상태가 되기 전에 6자회담은 모두 6회에 걸쳐 개최된 바 있다.

EW YORK, July 29 (Xinhua) -- Representatives from the United States and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) concluded on Friday their two-day exploratory talks aiming at possible resumption of the long-stalled six-party talks on Korean Peninsular denuclearization in New York, with both sides describing the discussions have been "constructive and business- like."
U.S. envoy for DPRK policy Stephen Bosworth told reporters outside the U.S. Mission to the United Nations that the talks were "constructive and businesslike."
He said that the U.S. has said from the beginning that the talks were exploratory.
"The United States reiterated that the path is open to North Korea towards the resumption of talks, improved relations with the United States, and greater regional stability if North Korea demonstrates through actions that it supports the resumption of the Six-Party process as a committed and constructive partner," he said.
DPRK Vice Foreign Minister Kim Kye Gwan left the residence of the U.S. Mission to the UN earlier Friday afternoon, shortly after a working lunch with their U.S. counterparts.
He told reporters that the meeting was over and there was no joint statement.
Kim, speaking in Korean, said that the dialogue was " constructive and business-like."
The two sides conducted " comprehensive" talks on issues of mutual interest, and the DPRK " would stay continue to have meetings with the United States," he said.
The bilateral talks came after U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Sunday invited Kim to New York for talks on the potential resumption of the six-party talks, which has been on hold for more than two years.
Last Friday, Republic of Korea (ROK)'s chief nuclear envoy Wi Sung-lac and his DPRK counterpart Ri Yong-ho held a bilateral meeting in Bali, Indonesia, during which the two sides agreed to work to resume the six-party talks.
The six-party talks, involving China, the DPRK, the United States, ROK, Russia and Japan, began in 2003. Six rounds of talks were held before stalling in December 2008.
