Deteriorating Human Rights Situation in Iran
The world remains deeply concerned by the persecution of Iranian citizens at the hand of their government. Over the past ten days, it was witnessed the bravery of thousands of Iranians who once again took to the streets to exercise their fundamental rights to peaceful assembly and expression. It has been made clear to the world that Iran denies its citizens the same fundamental rights it continues to applaud else where in the Middle East.
Security forces have beaten, detained, and - in at least three cases - killed peaceful protesters. Off the streets, the regime’s leaders have targeted human rights defenders and political activists, and authorities have recently rounded-up ex-government officials and their families; former members of parliament; clerics and their children; student leaders and their professors; as well as journalists and bloggers. They also continue to deny their citizens access to information by jamming satellite transmissions and blocking internet sites.
Iran’s leaders also continue to persecute ethnic and religious minorities. It is troubled by reports that, of the dozens of prisoners executed in 2011, most are ethnic minorities. At the same time, Baha’is and other religious minorities continue to be subjected to arbitrary arrests and prosecutions, harsh sentences, and unsafe prison conditions. It is called on Iran to free all political prisoners and persecuted minorities.
The steady deterioration in human rights conditions in Iran has obliged the international community to speak out time and again. The world will continue to watch and will hold accountable those responsible for these actions.

이란의 인권침해
세계 각국은 이란정부가 자국민을 처형하는데 대하여 깊이 우려하고 있다. 과거 10년 동안 수천 명의 용감한 이란인들이 평화적 집회와 기본적인 표현의 자유를 쟁취하기 위하여 길거리로 다시 한 번 튀어나온 것을 목격했으며, 이란 정부는 여타 중동지역의 다른 자역에서 의 기본권을 추구하는 시위에 박수를 보내면서도 한편으로는 자국민에게는 허용하지 않고 있다는 것을 세계에 명백히 보여준다.
보안군은 평화적 시위자들을 구타하고 구금하며 적어도 - 3건의 경우에는- 살해하기 까지했다. 내부적으로 정권의 지도자들은 인권운동가와 정치 운동가를 목표로 하고 있고 당국은 최근에는 전 정부 관리와 가족, 전 의회 의원, 성직자와 어린애들, 학생지도자와 지도교수 그리고 언론인과 불로거들 까지도 체포하고 있다. 당국은 계속적으로 위성송신의 전파를 방해하거나 인터넷 싸이트를 막아버려 정보에 접근을 차단하고 있다.
또한 이란의 지도자들은 소수민족이나 종교를 탄압하고 있다. 2011년에 처형된 10여명의 죄수들은 대부분 소수민족 이었다는 보도가 우려되는 것이다. 동시에 바히이 와 여타 소수종교 신도들이 계속해서 임의로 체포와 처형을 당하고 가혹한 언도를 받고 불안한 조건의 감혹에 갇치고 있다. 이란정부에 대해 모든 정치범의 석방과 소수민족 처형의 중지가 요구된다.
이란에서 자행되고 있는 지속적인 인권상황의 악화로 인하여 국제사회가 또 다시 한번 크게 외치도록 하고 있다. 세계는 이런 인권침해에 대해 이란에게 책임이 있다는 것을 계속 주시한다.
