SEOUL, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- Two South Koreans are missing after a 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit the second largest city in New Zealand, the foreign ministry here said Wednesday.
A building in Christchurch where the two students took English classes collapsed in the earthquake, and some 100 people have been rescued from the site, according to the ministry.
President Lee Myung-bak expressed consolation to the quake- ravaged country and voiced his will to provide emergency humanitarian assistance, the ministry added.
The South Korean embassy there is cooperating with local police to assess damage, and a team of South Korean relief workers are set to be dispatched later in the day.
