[도쿄=AP/KNS뉴스통신] 일본정부는 11일 지진과 쓰나미 여파로 현재 정지되어 있는 35개 원자력 발전소 재가동에 관한 시기를 스트레스 테스트이후로 미룬다고 발표했다.
후쿠시마 원자력발전소의 방사능 누출사고로 원자력 발전소 가동 중단이 4개월 계속되면서 전력부족 사태를 야기하고 있다.
체르노빌 사태이후 최악의 원전 사고가 발생하자 일본정부는 전체 54개의 원자력발전소의 안전성 조사를 명령하여 그 가운데 19개 원자로만 가동이 허용되면서 올 여름의 더위에 전력 부족사태를 초래했다.
일본 상무성 당국자는 현재 가동이 중단된 35 원자력 발전소가 대지진과 쓰나미에 대한 스트레스 테스트 결과 안전성이 확인후 재가동을 허가할 것으로 보인다.
원자력 발전소 안전진단을 위한 스트레스테스트를 2단계에 걸쳐 진행하기로 하면서 테스트 시작 시점 등 자세한 사항에 대해 발표하지 않았다.
일본 전력의 30%를 원자력 발전이 담당하고 있는 상황에서 현재 가동이 중단되어 있는 원자력 발전소가 가동이 지연되면서 앞으로 수개월동안 전력 부족사태가 우려되고 있다.

Japan can't say when nuclear reactors will restart
TOKYO (AP) — Japan could give no timetable Monday for restarting 35 nuclear plants idled in the wake of a tsunami-triggered meltdown crisis, with an official saying resuming operations depends on safety "stress tests" sometime in the future.
The news that the electricity shortages caused by the shutdowns might drag on came as Japan marked the fourth month after the March 11 earthquake and tsunami decimated much of northeastern Japan and triggered a meltdown crisis at the country's Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant.
The government ordered safety checks on all of Japan's 54 nuclear reactors following the nuclear disaster — the worst nuclear crisis since Chernobyl. Only 19 reactors are currently operating, causing electricity shortages amid sweltering heat.
Trade ministry official Yoshifumi Ohno said 35 idled nuclear reactors will undergo the new safety tests, known as "stress tests." The initial stage of the tests will examine whether those reactors can withstand big earthquakes and tsunami.
The March earthquake and tsunami knocked out power at the Fukushima plant, sending it toward meltdown in a crisis that engineers are still struggling to contain. The plant operator has come under heavy criticism for failing to sufficiently prepare for the disasters.
Ohno said the second stage of the "stress tests" will be more comprehensive, and apply to all of Japan's nuclear reactors. But he gave no further details, and did not say when the "stress tests" would begin.
