[워싱턴=AP/KNS뉴스통신] 중국은 미국을 방문하고 있는 티베트의 달라이 라마와 미국 정부 고위 관리의 만남에 대해 불만을 표시한 것으로 알려졌다.
미국무부 민주주의 세계문제 마리아 오테로 차관보는 5일 워싱턴에서 종교적 행사관계로 미국을 11일 일정으로 방문하고 있는 티베트의 정신적 지도자 달라이 라마와 만났다.
미국무부 빅토리아 눌런드 대변인은 7일 중국이 미 국무부가 달라이 라마를 공식적으로 만난 것이라고 불쾌감을 표시했다고 발표했다.
달라이 라마가 지난 2010년 방문 때 처럼 미국 버락 오바마 대통령과 힐러리 클린턴 국무장관을 만날지는 아직 확실하지 않다.
달라이 라마는 최근 티베트 망명정부의 지도자 직에서 물러났는데, 중국 정부는 티베트 독립을 추구하고 있다면서 그를 비난하고 있다.

US faces China complaint over Dalai Lama meeting
WASHINGTON (AP) — China has complained to the United States after a senior official met with the visiting Dalai Lama.
Undersecretary for Democracy and Global Affairs Maria Otero met with the Tibetan spiritual leader when he arrived Tuesday for an 11-day religious ritual in Washington.
State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said Thursday that China expressed displeasure to the department that the Dalai Lama was received officially.
It remains unclear whether he will meet with President Barack Obama or Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton as he did on his last visit in February 2010.
The Dalai Lama recently gave up his leadership of Tibet's government-in-exile. Beijing accuses him of seeking Tibet's independence from China.
